Ghana and other natural resource dependent African countries are faced with myriad of environmental challenges such as forest degradation, pollution of water bodies and deteriorating air quality, indiscriminate dumping of solid and liquid waste as well as climate change. The deteriorating environment has resulted in gross violation of fundamental human rights of citizens in Ghana and other countries in sub-Saharan Africa to clean environment, as well as posing significant health and socio-economic challenge.

The Ghanaian society and these countries require organisations or institutions with passions and experts in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental law, chemists, microbiologists, climatologists among others who have both insights into specialized fundamental knowledge as well as strong leadership abilities in the sustainable management of the environment and natural resources.

To this end the CENTRE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ANALYSIS (CEIA) a pro – poor public interest scientific research oriented environmental human right and advocacy non – governmental organisation established in 2006 to produce scientific technologies with advanced leadership skills in the sustainable management of the environment and natural resources in the country.

The objectives of CEIA are to:

• Carry out research and training in science and technology for environmental sustainability,

• Undertake information dissemination and advocacy campaigns at both community level, national and international through a network of environmental NGOs or other bodies who shares in CEIA objectives;

• Benefit all, especially those in Ghana and other developing countries for environmental management and sustainable development.

CEIA is grateful to our donors as well as members of the Research Advisory Council, Executive Council, Staffs of CEIA, the media and all who have supported the journey this far.
